ACES Code of Conduct
The Association of Civil Engineering Students (ACES) at FEU Institute of Technology is dedicated to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone interacting with our website, tools, and digital channels.
Our community includes students, officers, maintainers, and users who engage with ACES digital services. This Code of Conduct applies to all ACES-managed project spaces and interactions related to our work.
We expect all participants to follow these guidelines in order to help create a positive and collaborative environment.
Our Community
ACES digital platforms are developed and maintained in-house by members of the FEU Institute of Technology Civil Engineering community. Our community includes:
- Civil Engineering students
- ACES officers
- Developers and technical maintainers
- Academic collaborators
We aim to foster an environment that is respectful, professional, and welcoming.
Expected Behavior
Members of the ACES community are expected to contribute to a positive environment by:
- Being respectful and considerate in communication and collaboration
- Using inclusive and welcoming language
- Being open to constructive feedback and differing perspectives
- Showing patience and empathy toward other contributors
- Focusing on what benefits the community and the engineering student body
Professional and academic respect should guide all interactions within the community.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered unacceptable within the ACES community:
- Harassment, discrimination, or exclusionary behavior
- Offensive, insulting, or derogatory comments
- Trolling or deliberate disruption of discussions
- Personal attacks, intimidation, or threats
- Sexualized language, imagery, or unwelcome advances
- Publishing another person's private information without permission
- Conduct that would be considered inappropriate in a professional academic environment
These behaviors undermine the integrity and collaborative spirit of our community.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies in all ACES project spaces, including:
- ACES websites and tools
- Public or private ACES GitHub repositories used for source management
- Project documentation
- Community discussions related to ACES digital services
It also applies when individuals are representing ACES in public spaces, including:
- Using official ACES email addresses
- Posting through official ACES social media accounts
- Representing ACES at academic or community events
- Participating in collaborations on behalf of ACES
Reporting Issues
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to the ACES.
Reports may be submitted via email:

When reporting an issue, please include:
- A description of the incident
- The individuals involved (if known)
- Any relevant context or supporting information
- Links, screenshots, or logs if applicable
All reports will be handled with confidentiality and care.
Enforcement
The ACES Executive Board and Web Development Team are responsible for reviewing and responding to reports of Code of Conduct violations.
Possible actions may include:
- Requesting that the behavior stop
- Issuing warnings
- Removing comments, commits, or contributions
- Temporarily restricting participation
- Permanently banning contributors from ACES project spaces
Enforcement decisions will aim to maintain a safe and respectful environment for the community.
Feedback and Participation
We welcome constructive feedback from members of the engineering community.
If you would like to help improve our digital services:
- Report bugs through our official contact channel
- Suggest enhancements or new features
- Share documentation corrections or content issues
All requests and reports are reviewed internally by the ACES Web Development Team.
