Welcome to ACES.

The Association of Civil Engineering Students (ACES) is a student-run academic organization headquartered at the FEU Institute of Technology in P. Paredes St., Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines ("we", "our", or "us"), from where we publish our information.

We recognize and value the privacy of people ("you" or "user") who use our services.

This Privacy Policy describes the different ways we may collect, use, and share information on, through, or in connection with our services. If you have any questions, please reach out to us as described in Contact Us below.

What Are Our Services?

We use the term “our services” to collectively describe any of the products or services that directly link to this Privacy Policy. These include, for example:

  • The official ACES portfolio website and academic tools
  • Events, activities, or other initiatives where this Privacy Policy is posted

All website software and academic tools are developed and maintained in-house by ACES. Our repositories are used for internal source management and are not offered as open-source software.

By accessing our websites or otherwise using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with any of the terms of this Privacy Policy, you may immediately stop using our services.

1. What Data We Collect and Process

Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

Because our primary services are academic tools, we design our systems to process as much data locally on your device as possible.

When you submit forms on our website or register for events, we may collect information such as:

3. Local Storage and Similar Technologies

Local Processing

We use your browser’s Local Storage to save:

  • Site preferences (such as light/dark mode themes)
  • Academic calculations and tool inputs

This allows your work and preferences to remain available when you return to the site.

Because this data is stored on your own device and not on our servers, you have full control over it.

You may delete this data at any time by clearing your browser’s:

  • Cache
  • Local storage
  • Site data

4. Information Sharing

We may share your information with other parties in the following situations. By providing your personal data, you acknowledge that such disclosure may occur.

A. Service Providers

We may work with third-party service providers to help us provide services and functionalities, including:

  • Hosting platforms such as Vercel
  • Version control platforms such as GitHub

These service providers may use technologies such as:

  • Cookies
  • Web beacons
  • Other tracking technologies

to collect or receive data about you.

5. Data Retention and Storage

Local Data

Data generated by using our academic tools is retained locally on your device for as long as you keep your browser data intact.

We do not have access to this data.

It is permanently deleted if you clear your browser’s local storage.

Submitted Data

For information you actively submit (such as event registrations or GitHub contributions), we will keep your data only as long as necessary to provide the services requested unless:

  • You request deletion
  • We are required to retain it under applicable law

  • Local storage
  • Cache
  • Site data

Third-Party Hosted Data

Some data is collected and managed by third-party platforms such as:

  • Vercel
  • GitHub

ACES cannot directly access or modify data managed by these services.

To exercise your rights regarding this information (such as server logs, or IP addresses), you must submit requests directly to the respective service providers according to their privacy policies.

7. Securing Your Data

We take reasonable measures to prevent unauthorized access or improper use of personal data.

However, transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. While we strive to protect your data, risks such as:

  • hacking
  • cyber-attacks
  • unauthorized interception

may still occur.

Users should remain aware of these risks when using online services.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to:

  • reflect changes in our services
  • align with operational updates
  • comply with updated laws and regulations

We encourage users to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

Continued use of our services after updates means that you acknowledge and accept how we collect, handle, and use your personal data under the revised policy.
